Our ethical guidelines are based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and are intended to promote ethical conduct among all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Proper citation and acknowledgment of the work of others are mandatory to avoid plagiarism.

  • Authorship and Contribution: All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research must be listed as authors. Those who have contributed in a lesser capacity should be acknowledged appropriately. Authors must ensure that all listed co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

  • Data Accuracy and Transparency: Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the data presented in their manuscripts. They must provide raw data if requested by the editors for review purposes and should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their research. All sources of funding for the research should be disclosed.

  • Reporting Standards: Authors must present their research findings clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. They should follow the appropriate reporting guidelines for their research design.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors:

  • Fair Play and Impartiality: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, disclosing information only to those involved in the review and publication process.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the authors' explicit consent. They should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

  • Decision-Making: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's relevance, originality, and clarity. They should ensure a fair and unbiased peer review process.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers:

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Peer reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.

  • Promptness and Competence: Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or are unable to provide a timely review should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss the manuscripts with others except as authorized by the editor.

  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear, constructive feedback provided to the authors. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could bias their opinions of the manuscript and should recuse themselves from reviewing manuscripts where such conflicts exist.

  • Editorial Independence: The publisher must respect the independence of editorial decisions and support the editors in their role without interference.

  • Support for Ethical Guidelines: The publisher should ensure that the journal's ethical standards are upheld and provide the necessary support to editors, authors, and reviewers in addressing ethical issues.

  • Maintaining the Integrity of the Academic Record: The publisher should work with editors to address any allegations of research misconduct or ethical violations, including retractions or corrections of published articles when necessary.
